I am a TARVER decendent, my maturnal great grandmother was Lema Pearl Tarver, her parent were Ervin T. TARVER b.1846/48 pl: Wilcox, Dallas Co, AL & Margaret Elisabeth STROUD 27 oct 1849, pl:Clark Co AR, each of their 6 children born in Clark Co AR, Archie abt:1875, John abt:1878, Fannie L. abt:1879, Maude M. b:may 1881 d: oct 1901, Lema Pearl b: 27 may 1886 d: 10 apr 1959, Tom (no dates?).
Ervin parents were Owen TARVER b: 1815 pl? & Mahala B. (no surname?) b:1824 pl: KY, all 8 of their childern born in AL. Martha abt:1838, James abt:1840, Emoline abt:1842, Enoch Hooper abt:1844, Ervin T.abt:1846/48 d: 5 jul 1904, Lousia abt:1847, Lewis (maybe twins?)abt:1847, Mary S. abt:1851
According to marriage record they must have moved to Clark co AR before 1866 per Enoch Hooper TARVER marr: 25 Jan 1866 Clark Co AR records.
Fact: Maude & Lema, & Fannie Tarver married 2 Colwell brother's Wesley O. Colwell & George Presley Colwell (later spelled Caldwell)
Hoping to find more Tarver's here from the Clark Co AR decendents

I am also researching the Welch (Welsh)
family from Hertfordshire. I have traced
back to 1836 to Joseph Welsh who married Mary Ann Bush in Little Berkhampstead 1836 I have the parish records for this event and also the Parish Baptism records for their son William who was born also in 1836. They lived in Newgate Street a village in Hertfordshire close to Essendon. Joseph was an agricultaral labourer. William Joseph's son married an Ellen Sadler in Hackney London and is shown on the 1881 census together with their children.

Never knew there were so many of us! Our Tarver family is a bit scattered and stories are sketchy. My grandfather was Jesse James Tarver and my dad is Donald Charles Tarver. The family still resides in Delhi, LA, Epps, LA and the Monroe, LA area. I've often heard my original family name was Taver or something along that line, family came over from the Isle of Mann. Descendent of Fleming Eliphlet Tarver, M.D. of Burke/Richmond Counties, Georgia. Recently discovered that Roberson was his father, and found the spelling of his mother's name on you web-site. Now, desperately wondering who is grandfather (Mark Etheldred's father) was. Etheldred Jordan? Samuel Bennett? Some unknown Robert? According to census records he was born in Alabama in May 1843. His father (name unknown) was born in Virginia. Ed Tarver was married to Jane (Roberson?)-Tarver born in North Carolina in July 1853. Ed was of African decent and may have been born a slave. Jane was of Indian decent. Their Children were Edward (1873), Mnaervay or Minirva (1878), Adly (1880), James (1881), Ocey (my grandfather 1885), Ely (1886), Eddie (1889), Silas (1891), and Elijah (1895).

My great grandmother was Martha Julia Tarver. She married Otho Willims. They had John Marshall Williams who married Sarah Henrietta Humble and had my father Isaac Edward Williams who married my mother Jessie Doris Moore who had me. I was born in Franklin Parish LA.

Hi, I am interested in a bible record entry of Reuben & Temperance James Rogers. Regarding the births of Marian Cary and Newton Cary.
Marion Cary was received by letter from New Providence Church into Williams Creek Baptist Church Warren County Georgia, along with Newton Cary, on September September 16, 1843. The letter was dated September 15.
February 8, 1845. Marion, Newton, James and Nancy Cary were given letters of dissmission. They are found in Washington County Georgia in the 1860 and 1870 census.
I believe that Marion and Newton were both children of an earlier marriage to James Cary and I would appreciate any infomation you could give regarding the entry into the Rogers bible.

Cleaning out family stuff and found the "Giant" ring too. My Great-grandmother took her son to the fair in Flint Michigan ~ 1894 and J.G. Tarver the giant gave the ring to her for a bracelet for her son to wear (he was less than one year old). I'm excited that others have this ring too. What's the story? I am a decendant of Smithie and Thomas Watkins Perry. Their son Patrick Henry Perry's son Benjamin Tarver Perry Sr. is my ggrandad. Patrick and his boys Hartwell Bass Perry and Jos Turner Perry and Ben ran the Bass-Perry plantation in Russell Co near Seale Al from 1840-1920. little Joe and Ben and call HB ""Hoss"(I made up the Hoss part)..... a southern Bonanza. They made Perry wagons on the plantation.
My cousin Ben is Ben Tarver Perry IV. We were both born in 1952. He has Ben Sr's bible-Ben Sr b1856.. I have photos of all four Ben Tarver Perrys. I will attach a crude Perry line for you. I have a GEDCOM for Perry line including Smithie if you want to trade for the Thos Tarver one. Let me know if you want this info and the photos.
Smithie is HOH 1860 Russell Co. TW Perry died early of malaria. Smithie left with a house full of youngins' Son Patrick was an established planter in the day and must have helped mom run her plantation in Russell Co. Smithie's brother Benjamin was the first Postmaster and Tarvers were early county settlers. I will attach some local history extracts. Also the Perry line from TW Perry's grandfather John Perry.

Personal records in my family show a son, Robert Tarvor Brown, son of John Brown and Mary Tarver. The NC and VA place names are consistant. Dates are consistant. The spelling of Tarvor is not. Six children are listed from the marriage of John, a silversmith, and Mary: Robert, twins John and Thomas, William, Rebecca, and Mary.
Another family, 1860's branch with ours, has personal records with Robert Tarvor Brown as a son of John and Mary.

I am trying to research who my great grandmother was. She was a rich Tarver who I believe lived in Louisiana. She married a Grubb who was an opthamoligist and was disowned by her family for marrying him. I believe that they ended up in TExas around the Houston area. She had a son who is my grandfather. I'm still waiting from my mother to get his name. My mother never knew this side of her family as her father disappered after her birth. I think his name might have been Charles Grubb. I am amazed that there is a site devoted
to Tarver family lineage. There are very few of us on the West Coast. I have always been interested in family history, paticularly since my lineage is such a black hole. All I know is that my father, Ronald Gene Tarver, was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas October 9,1945 to Ernest Tarver and ? Patricia (Nichols) Tarver. My grandfather left the family shortly after my father's birth. I believe that my grandfather died in Louisiana in 1974. I have heard talk that some family may be in the Monroe, La area. If any of this sounds familiar, I would appreciate hearing from you. Ron

As I was reviewing the 1840 Amite Co. Mississippi census images on Ancestory.com, I noticed the inumeraters name written at the top of the page. It was Elisha L. Tarver. Certification of his results was entered on the last page of the document. Also found two John Cockerham, Jr.'s and a Thomas Cockerham.
You've still got a great page which I visit often.
