Tarver-Gen: Records Section
Documenting your family history with records is the hallmark of good research.
Tarver-Gen's Public Records section is a growing collection of transcribed records. When possible, scanned images of the documents will be placed in our Visual History section. I'd be thrilled if you would contribute.
NOTE: I am migrating Tarver-Gen's Miscellaneous Records section to this area, for more efficient access.
I copied the following code from somewhere . . . Please consider adopting it as your own.
General Code of Ethics
- I will be courteous and respectful to all record custodians, librarians, archivists, and others who serve the public.
- I will handle carefully all books or records entrusted to me and return them to the designated space.
- I will not tear, erase, mark, or remove any document, book, or film, nor will I mutilate, deface, destroy, or otherwise change any part of such document, book, or film.
- I will present my genealogical findings with honesty and integrity, using permission when necessary and attributing work that is not my own to the proper entity.

- Bible Records
- Biographies
- Cemetery Records - in the Cemeteries Section, many with photos of gravestones.
- Census Records - Census Data, Tax Rolls & Voting Registration.
- County Histories - county histories, historical markers, place names, etc. COMING
- Court Records - subpoenas, court orders, case files, etc.
- Deed Books, Land & Property Records - grants, deeds, mortgages, surveys, patents.
- England - records related to TARVERs in England.
- Manuscripts - Diaries, personal letters, published & unpublished manuscripts, etc.
- Memorials in the Memorials Section.
- Military - registration, enlistment, pension, muster rolls, bounty pensions, etc.
- Miscellany - "uncategorized," research notes, etc. Some items end up here before they get classified.
- Publications & News Items - published articles & items from old newspapers, magazines, newsletters, etc.
- Obituaries - in the Obits Section, includes a board where you can post TARVER obituaries.
- Photographs & Drawings - in the Visual History Section, includes scanned documents.
- Probate & Succession Records - wills, letters of administration, estate inventories, etc. Includes slave data.
- Vital Records - birth, death, marriage & divorce records, etc.
- Immigration & Emmigration Records - Ship lists & logs, passenger arrivals. COMING
- Document library - in the Visual History Section, digital images of primary source material to assist in your research.
