Death Certificate

Avrilla Rebecca Tarver Brown was born in 1866 to Thomas B. and Mary Jane Tarver. Mary Jane (buried at East Fork Cemetery in Liberty, Amite County, Mississippi) is believed to be a Bigner (not confirmed). Her gravestone may be viewed in Tarver-Gen's Cemetery Grounds Section at this link. Thomas B. Tarver is believed to have been married 4 times.

Avrilla Rebecca and Newton Marion Brown, Jr. were married Nov 25, 1883 in Pike County, Mississippi.

Newton Marion Brown, Sr. was killed in action at Chickamauga, Georgia on 20 Sept 1863. He was placed on the "Roll of Honor" for bravery. The Roll of Honor was the Confederate equivalent of the Union Medal of Honor.

The image displayed is that of Avrilla Rebecca's death certificate. According to the certificate, she died 21 June 1920, and was buried at Johnson Chapel, near Summit, Mississippi, on 22 June 1920.
