Militia Records are a compilation of service records of volunteer soldiers who served from 1784-1811. These listings were taken from microfilm index cards which gives the name of the soldier, his rank and the unit in which her served. The National Archives has other records that contain information about soldiers who served during this period.
The Georgia State Militia was organized at the beginning of the Revolution and continued to be active
until just before the Civil War.

NOTES ~ Misc Benjamin TARVER records in early Georgia
A Benjamin TARVER is found in the the 1805 GA Land Lottery, held in 1803-04. The lottery that year showed the following TARVERs:
- Burke Co.: Absalom. a married man; Andrew, single, won a prize; Benjamin; Celia, a widow with minor children; Jacob, Sr., married; Robert, single; Samuel, single, won a prize; and William, married.
- Jefferson Co.: Bird, married.
- Washington Co.: Etheldred, married, and Jacob, single.
- Wilkes Co., GA: John, married, and Richard, single.
