Court Records: Johnston Co., NC Court Minutes
TARVER & ROGERS ~ 1759-1766
Transcribed below are records from the Court Minutes of Johnston County, North Carolina. Each includes a mention of either TARVER or ROGERS, or both. At least two TARVER/ROGER connections are believed between these families.
The first is through the marriage of John TARVER, son of Samuel TARVER and Sarah ROGERS, daughter of Joseph ROGERS. Their son, Samuel (Rev. Soldier) married Charlotte GOFF. This line of TARVERs moved into Tennessee following Samuel's service in the Revolutionary War.
The second known connection is through the marriage of Isham ROGERS (brother of Sarah above), whose daughter, Cynthia (by wife, Tabitha), b. 1782 NC, married bef. 1808 to Henry CRAWFORD.
Two of Cynthia and Henry's children married TARVERs. Their son, Arthur CRAWFORD, married Nancy TARVER, born 1810, the daughter of Samuel TARVER and Charlotte GOFF, mentioned above. Their daughter, Sarah Suzannah CRAWFORD, married 3 Jul 1828 Ranson Ruffin TARVER, Sr. in Knox Co., TN. Ranson Ruffin also was the child of Samuel TARVER and Charlotte GOFF.
