NOTES
Elizabeth Lamkin Tarver Ellzey was the daughter of Sampson Lewis Lamkin and Narcissa Sessions. Grandparents: George Sessions & Elizabeth Clark Robison and William Lamkin & Keziah Hart Snead.
Elizabeth Lamkin married first Elijah Lovett Tarver, who was the s/o Allen Tarver & Elizabeth Cockerham, and grandson of John Tarver. Elizabeth Cockerham was the d/o John Cockerham, Sr. of Amite County, Mississippi, and his first wife, Brambley. Elizabeth Lamkin and Elijah Tarver were married on 12 April 1884 in Pike County, Mississippi.
John Cockerham, Sr. ("Old John"), John Tarver, and Allen Tarver were among the early settlers who patented land "on the waters of the Amite" in 1807 after having traveled with their families from Barnwell, South Carolina. As many as four intermarried TARVER / COCKERHAM families were among these early settlers, possibly more. The two families continued to intermarry with a number of their descendants relocating into Louisiana. Some traveled further into Texas and California. These TARVER families are related to the Tennessee Tarvers and the Georgia Tarvers, as well as the early North Carolina Tarvers.
