MARCUS ZENO TARVER

AMITE -- Died sunday, May 1, 1975 at 3:45 p.m. at Beachum Memorial Hospital, Magnolia, Miss. He was 88, a native of Liberty, Miss., and a resident of Kentwood.

Body at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, after 10 a.m. Monday. Services at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Brother Jimmy Hill officiating. Burial in Woodland Cemetery, Kentwood.

Survived by five daughters, Mrs. Luella Morgan Kennedy, Mrs. Christine Brooks, Mrs. Perline Smith, all of Kentwood, Mrs. Gladis Morgan, Springfield, and Mrs. Ida Mae Rhodus, Osyka, Miss.; five sons, Clarence Tarver, Curtis Tarver and Leon Tarver, all of Kentwood; Percy Tarver, Osyka, Miss.; and George Tarver, Amite; 48 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, and 44 great-great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Minervia Cummins Tarver, and two children.

Marcus Zeno Tarver was the s/o Christopher Columbus Tarver and Mary Jane Bigner (13 known children), the grandson of Samuel Wilson Tarver and Mary Ann Lilly (8 children), the great-grandson of Wilson and Malinda Tarver (9 children) and the 2nd great-grandson of Judith Cockerham and _____ Tarver (8 children).

Marcus Zeno Tarver and Minerva Cummings, who married on December 21, 1874 in Amite Co., Mississippi, had the following children:

T.J. Tarver was named T.J. at birth. The name Leon was assigned to him when he entered the Army as they would not accept the letters T.J. as a name. T.J. had one son, named James Tarver.

Marcus Zeno Tarver was a member of the Church of God in Kentwood, La. Born in Liberty, Amite Co., Mississippi, he died in the Beachman Memorial Hospital in Magnolia, Pike Co., Mississippi and is buried in Kentwood, Tangipahoa Par., Louisiana.

Marcus Zeno Tarver lost part of a finger when working at a pole mill in Fluker, La.
