Joe Tarver Rites Held Monday At East Winnfield
Last rites for Joe Tarver, 69, who died March 31 in Lafayette, were held in East Winnfield Baptist Church Monday at 1 p.m. with the pastor, Rev. Kenneth F. Wall, officiating. Burial was in Gorhamtown Cemetery with Masonic rites.
The deceased was the husband of the former Miss Tennie O'Leary, native of Winn, who survives him. He also leaves one son, two daughters, one sister, one brother, and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
NOTES Joseph "Joe" Edward Tarver was the s/o Margaret Sirman and John Thomas Tarver. John Thomas Tarver was born in 1865 to John Edward J. Tarver and Adeline Walters (dau. of William Walters and Elizabeth Smith). John E.J. Tarver served in the CSA with the Quitman Guards of Pike County, Mississippi and with Captain Matthews Company, Miss Volunteers, Co.E, 16th Regiment, Miss. Infantry. He was the s/o Wilson and Melinda Tarver, and the grandson of Judith Cockerham. John Thomas Tarver (b.Magnolia, Pike Co., Ms.) died in Shreveport on 03 August 1948, and is buried at Springhill Cemetery, Ball, Rapides Parish, La. John E.J. and Adeline Walters Tarver are are buried at Holloway Prairie, Rapides Parish, La.
