Funeral services for Henry J. Cockerham, 85, lifelong resident of Trout, who died at 2 p.m. May 16, were held May 17 at 2 p.m. with Rev. A.J. Cain of Urania officiating. Interment took place at Chalk Hill Cemetery near Little Creek, under the direction of Upshaw Funeral Home of Jena.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. H. Baldridge of Little Creek, Hettie McCallum of Trout, Minnie Fletcher of Houston, Texas, and Alice Bryant of Newellton; and three sons, C.C. of Trout, James of Magnolia, Ark. and Orrin Cockerham of Ferriday.

Henry Jackson Cockerham, born 16 September 1858, Mississippi, was the s/o Quincy A. Cockerham and Demarius nee Cockerham.
Quincy's parents were William Cockerham (s/o Mary Valentine & Thomas Cockerham) and Brambley Tarver (d/o Nancy Cockerham & West Tarver). Thomas and Nancy Cockerham were siblings, the children of Brambley & "Old John" Cockerham (Barnwell, SC to Amite Co., MS). West Tarver, born in Barnwell Co., SC, was the s/o John Tarver (wife unknown). Mary Valentine was from the Amite River area, Livingston Parish, Louisiana.
Demarius Cockerham's parents were James Cockerham and Elizabeth nee Cockerham. James Cockerham was the s/o John Cockerham, Jr. (also a s/o Brambley & "Old John" Cockerham) and Nancy Tarver (sister to the above mentioned West Tarver). Elizabeth Cockerham was the d/o David Bent Cockerham (also a s/o Brambley & "Old John" Cockerham) and Jane Demarius Chadwick (of Barnwell Co., SC).
Henry Cockerham married Missouri Raborn on 15 January 1880 in LaSalle Pa., La. Missouri died 24 September 1927, and also is buried in Chalk Hill Cemetery.
