Funeral Services Held For George Branch Monday
Dies At Home In Chatham, La.; Lifelong Resident of Winn Parish

Funeral services for George Washington Branch, who died at his home at Chatham, Sunday, December 17th, 1933, were held at the Harmony Grove Church, Gaars Mill, Monday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, the Rev. J. N. Winegart, of Chatham, officiating. Mr. Branch had been in ill health for the past year. He has been residing in Chatham two years, the only time he has lived outside of his home community, Gaars Mill. At the time he became ill he was an employee of the state highway department.

George Washington Branch was born June 29, 1877, Gaars Mill, the son of William and Lidia Branch. On November 14th, 1900, he was married to Louella Dark, also of the Gaars Mill Community. At the time of his death he was a member of the Baptist Church at Chatham.

Besides his wife he is survived by ten children: Elvie N. Branch, Tarochione, Mountain View, Oklahoma; Irene Branch Harvester, Chatham; Stanley Branch, Sikes; Daisy Allen Branch, Marie Branch Tarver, Zenoria; Cortence Branch Adams, Florence Branch, Georgia Branch, Robert Branch, Francis Joy Branch, all of Chatham.

He is survived by five brothers and two sisters; P. E. Branch, Montgomery; Mack L., A. S. Branch, Mrs. J. S. Tugwell, Winnfield; Mrs. Henry Davis, Montgomery; Wright Branch, Jonesboro; J. W. Branch, Baton Rouge; and three half brothers, Jim Lee, Gaars Mill, Alonzo Lee, Dodson, and Chester Lee, Belcher.

Among those from Winnfield attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Branch, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Tugwell, Mr. Mack L. Branch, Mrs. C. F. Walsworth, Mr. C. L. Dark, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Sikes, Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Bailey, Mrs. L. Rickerson, and Mr. J. E. Carter.

NOTES

Marie Branch (b. 12 July 1909), the d/o George Washington Branch, died 02 June 1995. She was the wife of Virgle Lee Roy Tarver, Sr. Virgle Tarver Sr. (b. 10 July 1901) died 14 August 1976 in Alexandria, and is buried in Jena Memorial Cemetery, LaSalle Pa., La. Virgle was the s/o Marion Crawford Tarver & Adeline Jolly, and grandson of Russell Marion Tarver and Aletha Ann Minerva Wilson. Russell Marion Tarver was s/o Samuel Wilson Tarver and Mary Ann Lilly.
