GEORGE E. TARVER
AMITE -- George E Tarver, 83, a retired Air Force staff sergeant and Veteran of World War II, died Friday, May 24, 2002, at his residence in Amite.
He was a native of Liberty, Miss., and a resident of Amite.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 30 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Marie Tarver; two daughters, Shelia Ann Kueblar of Ponchatoula and Georgia Canale of Hammond; three sons, Louis Tarver of Amite, Randy Tarver of Gulfport, Miss., Mitchell Tarver of Amite; two sisters, Pearline Smith of Kentwood and Gladys Simmons of Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
His parents were the late Zeno and Minerva Tarver. Four brothers and three sisters also preceeded him in death.
Visitation will be at McKneely Funeral Home in Amite today from 1 p.m. until the funeral 2 p.m. The Rev. Leland Durbin Jr. will conduct the service. Burial will be at Amite Gardens.

He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 30 years of service and was a veteran of World War II. A resident of Amite, he died at 12:50 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2002, at his home. He was 83 and a native of Liberty, Miss. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 1 p.m. until religious service at 2 p.m. Sunday, conducted by the Rev. Leland Durbin Jr. Interment in Amite Memorial Gardens, Amite.
Survived by his wife, Dorothy Marie Tarver, Amite; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shelia Ann and Dale Kuebler, Ponchatoula, and Georgia and Joseph Canale, Hammond; three sons and daughters-in-law, Louis and Pat Tarver, Amite, Randy and Connie Tarver, Gulfport, Miss., and Mitchell and Donna Lavigne Tarver, Amite; a sister-in-law, Ruby Nell LeTard, Independence; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pearline Smith, Kentwood, and Gladys Simmons, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Zeno and Minerva Tarver; four brothers and three sisters.
Pallbearers will be Dale Brian Kuebler, Louis Tarver Jr., Danny LeTard, Nick Cathey, Ray Cathey and Anthony Rock. Honorary pallbearers are Brian Duplessis, George L. Tarver and Jason Wilson.

The above Family Record and Obituary were submitted by Louis Tarver of Amite, Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana. Louis is the s/o George E. Tarver & the grandson of Marcus Zeno Tarver.
Louis indicated that his father, George Edward Tarver, born on April 08, 1919, had retired from service in the Air Force in June 1964. While in active service, George's family resided where he was stationed, from Keesler Air Force Base at Biloxi, Harrison Co., Mississippi to Long Island, New York. Their time at Keesler allowed them to spend time with the family of George's younger brother who lived at Gulf Port, Mississippi.
George's father,
Marcus Zeno Tarver was the s/o Christopher Columbus Tarver and Mary Jane Bigner (13 known children), the grandson of Samuel Wilson Tarver and Mary Ann Lilly (8 children), the great-grandson of Wilson and Malinda Tarver (9 children) and the 2nd great-grandson of Judith Cockerham and _____ Tarver (8 children).
Marcus Zeno Tarver and Minerva Cummings, who married on July 18, 1906 in Amite Co., Mississippi, had the following children:

Marcus Zeno Tarver lost part of a finger when working at a pole mill in Fluker, La.
