Star City- Capt. H.H. Tarver, aged 74, died at his home here this morning. He is survived by a son, John Tarver of Pine Bluff; and three daughters, Mrs. T.D. Waters of Yorktown, Mrs. Lillie McGehee and Mrs. Birdie Lucas of Pine Bluff.

Mrs. H.H. Tarver, aged 77, died at her home at Star City yesterday morning at 9:30. Captain and Mrs. Tarver had been residents of Star City for the past 47 years and were of one of the best known and liked families of Lincoln County. Mrs. Tarver was a member of the Methodist Church of Star City. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, J.W. Tarver of Pine Bluff, and three daughters, Mrs. F.D. Waters of Yorktown, Mrs. B. Lucas and Mrs. Will M. McGehee of Pine Bluff. The funeral will be held from the home at 10 o'clock this morning by the Rev. M.C. Barrett. The body will be interred in the Geflin (sic Heflin) Cemetery near Star City.

Pine Bluff - R.E. Tarver, aged 50, died last night at his home at Star City. He is a son of H.H. Tarver of that place, and is survived by his wife and several children: one brother, J.W. Tarver of Pine Bluff, and three sisters, Mrs. T.D. Waters of Lincoln county, Mrs. W.M. McGehee and Mrs. Bertie Lucas of Pine Bluff.

Henry Heartwell Tarver was the son of John Wesley Tarver and Mary Virginia Spires, the grandson of Martha Mathews and John Tarver (who married in Amite County in 1812). Martha and John Tarver died in Leake County, Mississippi.
John Tarver (husband of Martha Matthews) was the son of Reverand John Tarver, who immigrated to south Mississippi from Barnwell Dist., SC - a Methodist minister, "set apart as deacon & licensed to preach" by Bishop Francis Asbury, State of South Carolina. A copy of the record is filed in Amite County.
Henry Heartwell Tarver married Mary Ann Lee in Monticello, Arkansas in June 1865. Mary Ann and Henry Tarver are both buried at Heflin Cemetery, outside of Star City, in Lincoln County, Ar.
Henry Heartwell Tarver's father, John Wesley Tarver, was married twice. His second marriage was to Lydia Jane Minshew on October 22, 1855 in Leake County, Mississippi. There are three known children of each marriage. With Mary Spires, he had Mary Virginia, Henry Heartwell and Frances. With Lydia Minshew, he had Alice J., William Allen, and Caroline.
