Seventh Regiment, Haywood County William Rogers Extracts from: MEMORANDA The following counties of the detached militia of 1814 were called into service at norfolk, in Virginia, by orders issued in September, 1814, to wit: Granville, Wake, Johnson, Franklin, Warren, Halifax, Southampton, Nash, Edgecombe, Martin, Bertie, Hertford, Gates, Chatham, Orange and Person. The detached militia from the counties of Chatham, Orange and Person were ordered to return to their respective homes before they arrived at gates court house, the place of rendezvous. The detached militia from the following counties were called into the service at Wilmington, North Carolina, by orders issued September 29, 1814, to wit: New Hanover, Brunswick, Bladen, Columbus, Robeson, Cumberland, Duplin and Sampson. The following counties of the detached militia were called into service at New Bern, North Carolina, by orders issued September 17. 1814, to wit: Pitt, Wayne, Green, Jones, Lenoir, Craven, Beaufort. The detached militia from the following counties were called to HILLSBOROUGH, the place of rendezveus, on the 28th Of November, 1814, where they were organized, and from thence marched to Norfolk, in the service of the United States, agreeable to a requisition made by the President to the Governor of this state, the counties, to wit: Orange, Chatham, Person, Caswell, Rockingham, Guilford, Randolph, Stokes, Surry and Wilkes. A requisition was made by Major General Thomas Pickney, for one regiment to march to the defenced of the southern frontier of the sixth military district of the United States, in consequence of which orders were issued from this office, calling forth the detached militia from the following counties, to wit: Anson, Richmond, Moore, Cabarrus, to rendezvous at Wadesborough, Anson County, on the 24th of February, 1815, also to Ashe, Wilkes, Burke, Rutherford, Buncombe And Haywood to rendezvous at Wadesborough in Anson County, on Wednesday, the 1st day of March, 1815. ----------- SOURCE ----------- Extracts from the Muster Rolls Soldiers of the War of 1812, Detached from the Militia of North Carolina 1812 and 1814, posted on Rootsweb.
