LAND DEED - Alpheus Rackliff, 1861

Know all men by these presents that I Tomasa Fuentes widow of Valentin
de la Fuentes and my son Sabas Fuentes together with me did for a
valuable consideration on the 25th day of October 1838 partially
relinquish unto Alpheus Rackliff all the title and interest in and to a
certain tract of parcel of land lying and being situated in the state
of Texas and known as the San Casimiro tract of land lying on a creek
or arroyo called "San Casimiro" or "El Salado" some twelve or fifteen
miles from the Nueces River.

Know all men by these presents that I Agapito Martinez by virtue of a
Power of Attorney given me by my mother in law Tomasa de la Fuentes
widow of Valentine de la Fuentes deceased and in consideration of the
sum of one thousand dollars to me in hand paid by Alpheus Racliff the
right whereof is hereby acknowledged do now give grant sell and convey
unto the said Alpheus Racklff all and enter that certain tract or
parcel of land lying and being in the State of Texas known as the "San
Casimiro" tract and situated on a creek or arroyo called "El Salado"
distance from the Nueces river twelve or fifteen miles.  To have and to
hold the same to the said Alpheus Rackliff his heirs and assigns to his
and their use forever and I the said Agapito Martinez covenant with the
said Rackliff his heirs and assigns that I have full right and power to
sell and convey the said premises that the said premises are clear and
free from all encumbrances and that I will at any time hereafter make
all such further assurances for the more effectual conveying of the
said premises as may be reasonably required and I the said Martinez
will warrant and defend the said premises unto the said Rackliff his
heirs and assigns forever.  Witness Whereoff I have hereunto set my
hand and seal this 12th day of August 1861.

		Personally appreared before S.X. Anderson County Clerk of Webb County
Agapito Martinez after being duly sworn acknowledged his signature and
that he signed the within.

SALADO CREEK (Webb County). Salado Creek rises ten miles northwest of
Aguilares in south central Webb County (at 27°37' N, 99°07' W) and runs
northeast for twenty-nine miles to its mouth on San Casimiro Creek,
twenty-eight miles northeast of Callaghan (at 27°58' N, 98°58' W).
Salado Creek is dammed near its source to form Retamosa Tank and Piedra
Parada Tank. Low rolling and flat terrain in the area has locally
shallow depressions and is surfaced by clay and sandy loams that
support grasses, mesquite, chaparral, and water-tolerant hardwoods.

The de las Fuentes and Alfrido familes intermarried. I will add
additional detail when I get to it ....

Agapito Martinez was married to Josefa Fuentes, the daughter of Tomasa
de la Pena and Jose Valentin de las Fuentes, in Guerrero, Tamaulipas,
México on 27 May 1848.  Sabas, San Juana and Refugia were Josefa's
siblings. Their parents were married in Guerrero in 1816, where their
father, Valentin, died on Sep 11, 1833.
