CIRILO, GUERRA, ALFRIDO, RACKLEFF and allied families. Primarily Mexico & South Texas, but descendants have moved into other states.

My paternal grandfather, Constancio Cirilo, b. March 11, 1885, Tamaulipas, México, d. June 14, 1979, Houston, Harris Co., Texas. See: Federal Population Schedule TX, Constancio Cirilo household, 1920, (Hamilton Co., Texas, township Precinct 4, vol. 78, ED 96, roll T625_1810, p. 7A, lns 36-39, hh 129-134).

Constancio was the s/o Pedro Cirilo (b. 1849, Allende, Nuevo Leon, México) and Gavina Villarreal (b. 1850, San Isadora, Tamaulipas, México). Gavina's gg-grandfather was Nicolas Zamora, original settler of Reinosa Vieja, Tamaulipas, México. (Reynosa was founded on March 14, 1749 with forty Spanish families.)

Constancio married on 15 March 1915 ... probably in Yorktown, DeWitt Co., Texas. Seeking documentation. I have photo in their wedding attire.

My paternal grandmother, Guadalupe Guerra, b. August 14, 1894, Guerrero, Tamaulipas, México, d. October 28, 1987, Houston, Harris Co., Texas. She was the d/o Pablo Guerra Recio (bapt. June 23, 1867, Agualequas, Nuevo León, México) and Maria del Refugio Alfrido (bapt. July 16, 1871, Guerrero, Tamaulipas, México - 3 days old).

The surname of Ma. Refugio's grandfather originally was Rackliff, changed to Alfrido so the local Spanish-speaking population could more easily pronounce it. Many of his descendants carry the name Ratcliff, while others carry the name Alfrido or Alfredo. They have been found on census records with both surnames in the same household. Some are known to have used the two surnames interchangeably, sometimes assuming one name and sometimes the other. Constancio and Guadalupe Guerra Cirilo had thirteen children, of whom my father was the eldest son. My grandparents are buried at San Jacinto Memorial Park Cemetery, Houston, Harris Co., Texas.

I am slowly getting some related documents online. Almost all of the document images presently online are related to the ALFRIDO aka RACKLEFF (ratcliff) lineage.
