Notes

John Wesley Tarver was an ordained minister of the Pentecostal Church.He and
Thomas Mayo,Eddie Haygood,and a minister named Hodges were the first ministers
to preach the gospel of Pentecostalism in the area of central and north central
Louisiana.Thomas Mayo established and built a church at Rawson Creek a few
miles north of Harrisonburg in Catahoula Parish.John Wesley Tarver established
and built several chucrches in the area,the most notable was at the old
Webb Logging Camp site near Manifest in Catahoula Parish.This church exists and
is active now,in the year 1993.It was established about 1946.He was also a
gifted craftsman in carpentry,blacksmithing,gunsmithing,and at anything he
decided he wanted to and needed to do.His skills and craftsmanship was sought
by many people in the area.
